This workshop provides education and training in evidence-based nursing care as documented in the Mother-Friendly Childbirth Initiative.  Instructors will cover strategies that the labor and delivery nurse can use to provide mothers with safe, satisfying, and cost-saving care.

This workshop is specifically created to improve your clinical skills by providing you with information regarding:

• The Mother Friendly Childbirth Initiative Document
• The latest evidence-based practice in maternity care
• The laboring woman's emotional needs and how to address them
• New and traditional pain relief techniques for the laboring woman
• Self care for the care provider
• Standards for the normal birth process from AWHONN
• The contribution of his/her healing presence to optimizing outcomes of mothers and families in birthing process.
• CIMS (Coalition for Improving Maternity Services)
