Consultants exist for the purpose of providing professional, relevant,
evidenced based, education and consulting resources to health
professionals, organizations, and the everyday woman serving expectant
parents.
Our team of consultants, individually employed, are
specialists in various topic areas that prepare the nurse, childbirth
educator, doula, midwife and those considering a career in these
professions, to increase their professional and personal satisfaction
and to increase the quality of care they extend to expectant parents
and family systems.
Marilyn Hildreth (Co-Founder) Marilyn Hildreth, RN, IBCLC, LCCE, FACCE, ICCE, IAT-CE-D, CD (DONA) Marilyn's professional background includes over
thirty years of experience in Maternal Child Health Nursing, including
supervisory, flight nurse, and staff nursing.She currently is a doula trainer for ICEA
and DONA International and serves as an instructor for Lamaze Labor Support for
Nurses and the Basic Teacher Training Workshop for the International
Childbirth Education Association.Marilyn also has served as Education Chair for the International
Childbirth Education Association Board of Directors.She is an author and international
speaker.You can still find Marilyn
giving eye to eye, breath to breath, and heart to heart labor support at a regional hospital in
South Dakota.
Lori Frane-Lake, (Consultant) RNC, WHNP, MSN, LCCE, ICCE, IAT Lori's professional background includes 30 years
experience as a perinatal nurse and childbirth educator. She is
certified as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner, Lamaze Instructor,
and ICEA Approved Trainer. Lori is Chair (2003-2006) for the
Association of Women's Heath, Obstetri, and Neonatal Nurse (AWHONN) MN,
and she is currently the AWHONN MN Twin Citites Chapter Coordinator.Lori also works at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis as a Senior Perinatal Nurse Researcher.
Joann
O'Leary (Consultant) Joann
has a PhD in Work, Community and Family Education, a Masters in
Maternal-Child Health, both from the University of MN and a
Masters in Psychology through research from Queens
University in Belfast, Northern Ireland where she was a
Rotary Scholar. She has been a Licensed Practical nurse,
a Preschool Special Education teacher, and a Parent-Infant Specialist
in a high risk perinatal center. She is a consultant and researcher on
prenatal parenting, with a
specialty in the pregnancy that follows a
perinatal loss. A board member of PLDA (Pregnancy Loss
and Infant Death Alliance), her research and 23 published articles
focus on ways infant loss changes families,
parents and children. She has developed a guided imagery
CD on the Parenting Experience of Pregnancy, two videos
and a booklet on pregnancy following perinatal
loss. In 2005 she was awarded the Lamaze International Marjorie Karmel
Award for her work with families pregnant after the
loss of a previous baby.
Marlo Robinson (Consultant)

Marlo Robinson worked full-time as a registered nurse in labor and
delivery while attending law school at NovaSoutheasternShepardBroadLawCenter
from 1993-1996.Following her graduation
from Nova Southeastern, Marlo began her legal career as an associate at Ruden,
McClosky, Smith, Schuster and Russell, P.A. in the firm's real estate and
corporate departments.Later, she worked
as in-house counsel with The Sports Authority, Inc.
Marlo founded her
business dream- Mother's Care Doula Services, Inc. in 1998.Since that time, Mother's Care has been named
the preferred doula provider by the South Broward Hospital District including
the Memorial Healthcare System and by Mt.SinaiMedicalCenter.
Additionally, Mother's Care served over 1000 birthing families to date and
looks forward to the continued blessing of serving new families this year and
for years to come. She also speaks frequently at the national and local levels
regarding childbirth and postpartum related topics.
She has been a CAPPA
certified postpartum Doula trainer and childbirth educator trainer for the past
8 years, a DONA International labor Doula trainer since 2001 and an LCCE for
the past 4 years.Marlo is a hard core
birth junkie and supporter of all things CHILDBIRTH!She has six children, ages 15, 12, 8, 5, 13
months and 47 (her wonderful husband!)In her spare time, she practices as the President and Directress of
Mother's Care, a birth company specializing in labor support, nanny placements,
baby nurses, childbirth education classes, pre-natal, postpartum and
infantmassage.
Marlo has been honored
by the legal and maternity community for her small business efforts and she
enjoys opportunities to facilitate doula trainings, teach and to speak and
present well-women issues, childbirth and small-business related matters
whenever possible! Her media contributions and appearances can be viewed on the
Discovery Health Channel-Kidworks/Doulas (May 2005), "Pregnancy"-a 2 disc DVD currently listed on Amazon.com (July 2008) and
Miami/Ft. Lauderdale affiliate television stations for FOX
and ABC.
Linda J. Smith, (Consultant) BSE, FACCE, IBCLC is a lactation consultant,
childbirth educator, author, and internationally-known consultant on
breastfeeding and birthing issues.As a former
La Leche League Leader and Lamaze-certified Childbirth Educator, she provided
education and support to diverse families over 35 years in 9 cities in the USA
and Canada. Linda has worked in a 3-hospital system in Texas, a public health
agency in Virginia, and served as
Breastfeeding coordinator for the Ohio Department of Health. Linda was a
founder of IBLCE, founder and past board member of ILCA, and currently serves
on the Board of Directors of the United States Breastfeeding Committee. She owns
the Bright Future Lactation Resource Center, whose mission is "Supporting the
People who Support Breastfeeding" with lactation education programs, consulting

She is the author of four text books and chapters in
other books published by Jones & Bartlett Publishers and receives income
from the sale of these books: Comprehensive Lactation Consultant Exam Review,
2001 and 2007; Coach's

Practice: The ABC's of Getting Started, 2003; Impact of Birthing

Michele Peterson (Program Coordinator) Michele has a background in sales and marketing at a regional theater
in Washington, DC. She is currently in the process of becoming an ICEA
& DONA certified doula, and is excited to be joining JM Birth Consultants.
